Niobis: Couple of questions.
First My Mcafee sub is up in about 30 days. Their new 2007 version is a mess. Bad codeing now trying to be fixed with patches built in panic mode. To that end I don't think I want them again.

I see you use AVG pro. My question is For an extra $7 they will let you redownload the program for 2 years. Do you get the complete program the first time so I only need to burn it to a CD and skip the extra money. Always some funky condition with these places.

I see you say Kaspersky is good yet a couple of days ago I read one user say it was Krap. Your thoughts why it would be Krap. I won't use Norton either.

At the moment I use Mcafee,Spybot,AdAware, And pestpatrol that get run everyday, and a online scan once in a while from panda or kaspersky. Kaspersky online is running as we speak. Pestpatrol seems to not be able to load Dats as of a couple of days ago even after a uninstall and reload so ill consider that one dead. I need real time scanning and I follow your posts like a hawk so I know you feelings on the various programs. I read my own HjT log and im clean, No other programs say I have anything as well. I not a music or game downloader but I manage to go to some sites that would like to plant things (can you picture a recipe site that trys to load a trogen??)

So while I would get 100 answers from 100 people I figure to stick with a known good virus fighter for the recomendations.

Your thoughts will determin my protection for the next year and beyond. Thanks Bkf

Comments from others are also welcome. Strong thoughts for or against a certain program are welcome.

ps: Nice not to have to read another HjT log ain't it. LOL

Edit because some day I will learn how to spell :-)

The only bad things about Kaspersky are: very slow scanning engine and it does have conflicts with many programs. IMO, it's one of the top 3 AVs out there. Along side NOD32 and AVG.

Ad-ware and Spybot are great to have. You should also look into getting AVGAS. Personally, I think it's the best anti-spyware available. SpySweeper is also good, well, from what I hear, I've haven't used it personally.

Make sure you've got a good firewall. You didn't say what, if any, you're using, but I'm sure you've got one. I use Zone Alarm Pro and I wouldn't trade it for any other. :)

Oh my...are you serious.

Also, for extra security get the McAfee Site Advisor.
It will keep you away from those trojan ridden sites, like the one mentioned above. :) I wouldn't surf without now days. I've tried a few other 'site advisor' plug-ins, but nothing compares to McAfee's.

I could recommend a few more programs, but they are only for parnoid people, like me...lol. If you would like me to list them, I will.

Cheers!
