Ok guys, I am looking at buying mod chip for my PS2. I have the concept down, but was wondering if anyone can point me in the most inexpensive reliable solution for modding my PS2. I have the old style PS2 that had GTA3 given away with purchase of it...

I will study the science of burning my games AFTER I can figure out how to mod my system.

TIA!!

Hmmm.... well you can go two routes buddy, Either grab yourself a copy of a disc called "Swap magic" (only $25) which can be used to play burnt/backups/import games only downfall is that you have to swap disc each time you want to play your backups (put in swap magic, open the lid and swap for the backup) OR you can go the modchip way which is a little more expensive and will require some sort of soldering skill you will have to have a very good eye and your hands have to be steady as well (i suggest looking for someone to solder it if it's your first time) The only downfall for a modchip is that you can easily ruin your PS2 if you do 1 wrong move when installing the chip but no swapping you can play burnt games like the original.

Swap Magic = 25 bucks spent on the software disc, a couple hundred bucks spent on wasted discs because you didn't rebuild the image right and it doesn't boot, another hundred and fifty for a new PS2 because you got sick of it not booting 100% and you kicked it......

a new DMS4 Pro SE chip is 60 bucks and if you can't put it in yourself another 35 to have it installed. you never have to rebuild a disc, you have 100% boot success and you never kick your console out of frustration from swapping discs all the dang time........priceless.

For the money you cant go wrong with the MI, about $31-$35 depending on who you buy it from. And if you go with a clone like the Xeno PS well damn now your talking only $10-$15 depending on who you go with.
