Well when i look at my hardrive space i only have lik 2 games and when i first turned it on it said i only had 12 gigs. sont accually owns bluray.

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

They dont, they are simply part of an association that developed the standards for Blu-ray.

The 360 hard drive does have only about 12 GB when you first turn it on, due to some music, videos, gamer pics, and themes being pre-loaded on there. If you delete all those, you'll have about 16 GB; the rest is reserved for game use (i.e. caching).

360 games won't ever be HD DVD....the add on is meant simply as a way to view HD DVD movies. As for HD DVD vs. Blu-ray, HD DVD is by far the better format.

i read somewhere that microsoft were acually planning on relesing games on there hd dvd drive (since the new xbox 360's will have them built in). so the more space the better their games get , and the more they can compete with sony.
microsoft just want us to think that we wont have to buy any addons so we will buy the xbox 360 without thinking were going to have to spend more.

and the hardrive thing. you only get 12 gb of space to use on it, the rest(6 gb) is used for system updates, game updates and probaly temperary extra memory. so the xbox only lets you see 12 gb of it.

but still the hardrives so small, i bet when theres tons of addons for xbox ames thell bring another bigger hardrive out or somthink, and the memory cards, sure there bigger then the ps2's ones, but they can just about hold an xbox live arcade game (i think anyway), they suck.

dont you think its a gimic that the hardrives arnt built in anymore, what was wrong with building them in, its coz microsoft make tons of addons for this new console.

anyhew, i thorght id make a very long message.

yeah we are, but he has a point. ive seen if from the beginning. ms says there will be no HD-DVD games, but they are releasing the addon, and the new systems will have it built in. so gates will say "well now there are HD-DVD games!" and you who trusted them will have to caught up an extra 150-200 bucks or more for this addon that everyone else is now gettin free.

Umm, yeah, when did MS say that new systems will have HD DVD built in? Yeah, that's right. Never. Rumors are just that, rumors. All MS has said is that there will be an HD DVD add on via the USB port, which will be shown at E3.

As for Halo 3, Bungie basically confirmed that it is indeed playable: http://bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?link=updateApril21
Specifically this passage:
Quote:
"And speaking of prettier - the weekly team meetings are getting prettier and prettier too. We're showing fully playable, often fully lit locations and scenarios."
So an E3 unveiling is looking more and more likely.

and did they say they would have an addon? no, not till now. they accually denied it. so allowing a cheap addon and future having it built in you know they will use it for games.

yeah were sort of going off the subject but were defenetly getting somewhere.
i acually remember ms saying that the hd dvd external deive would cost no more then £50 or $100. oviouslly their liars now as i saw an interview with the top man incharge of the xbox 360 and he says that the hd dvd drive willl be slightly cheaper then hd dvd players since its only the drive. and how much is a dvd player going to be? i saw prices for £200!.

for people like myself with a xbox 360, throughout its life we will be spendig lots of money.

but i hope they bring games on hd dvd, because then the grapics will get better and better and the games will get longer.
so in that case halo 3 will be a great game if its relesed in hd dvd

like a non hddvd version being the average game at about 7 gigs, and an hddvd special addition with lots of old levels redone and lots of new levels, plus more special gametypes and single player modes.

Well, it shows that Bungie's next project is actually playable, and if it's fully playable, why not show it at E3?

Not really sure what you're talking about. MS didn't deny an HD DVD add-on; it wasn't even rumored about before they announced it at CES in January.

What a lot of you are failing to realize is that the DVD 9 format is far from dead. With excellent compression techniques (especially procedural synthesis), disc space is not a big issue anymore. I think the numbers are that 20 gigs can be compressed down to like 2 gigs, with no loss in quality.

they said they would have it, then they said "oh no you dont need it really..", then they said
"omfg its official now, yet another addon for you to buy that we should have had included but
we rushed our system to jerk money out of you."

and compression takes time to load and decompress, but with the high read speeds of hddvd
and bdrom you can get more done faster.

i guess since everybody is stating there opinion i will state mine..lol
1.the HD-DVD add-on will most likely in the future will not play hd-dvd games...there is no way you can transfer a game through the usb fast enough to be playable. As for the HD-DVD being built intop teh system and playing games...i dont think they would do that to the people who bought the first release of 360 because that is real Fecked up....

2.PS3 and Bluray will hit way harder in japan than 360 and thats were PS3 will be strong, the gamecube is still selling more consoles in japan than the 360 because they have no games that appeal to japanese gamers.....there will definately be a battle between the 2 but im sure that most PS3 games will probably look nicer than 360 games(opinion)....

3.Dont count out the Revolution nintendo is still loved in japan aswell as here and because it will be cheaper (a lot hceaper than the other 2) it will do fine i believe...as long as they can create an online system, then everything will be ok.....

i believe the ps3 will take the lead by about double the 360's and revolution's sales. they have a strong base are are coming out with a strong, and nice release lineup system with many extras people will love.

sony is respected, and the ps name is well known for years of entertainment. people dont like change, it makes them scared. so a trusted label and a trusted durable system are perfect to the consumer.

High read speeds? You do realize that the first gen HD DVD/Blu ray drives are only gonna be like 2x or 4x? This is why load times on the PS3 are going to be pretty high. And the newer compression methods in use today by 360 devs, especially procedural synthesis, have essentially zero time to decompress. The compressed files work just as fast as the uncompressed version.

To theridges: I basically agree with everything you said. Although, PS3 probably won't have a graphical advantage for a while until devs can really push the system. 360 has lower specs, but it's smartly designed and easy to develop for.

um did you notice what the 2x and 4x of blueray are tho? 72 mbps and 144 mbps. but i see and 4x drive coming in the ps3. i believe a dvd's 1x is 1.32 mbps. so a 2x bd player is equal to a 54.5x dvd drive.

anubis66 i agree with all yove said on this page (or the last), if they did bring halo 3 on hd dvd, they could have all the original halo 1 and halo 2 levles put in.
and maby if theres the original halo1 and halo 2 camp[ain that would be amaysing coz we would probaly be able to play on co opertive campain on th original halo titles.
so bacically with map editor and new levles and old ones. this game would be amaysing and would never end (atleast untill they bring out halo 4).

o and theridges, what you are saying would be true for all the old fasion computers and usb ports! haveyou heard of a HIGH speed usb port, thats what the xbox 360 has so its capibal of sending data very fast via usb. so hd dvd games wouldbe a possility. yay!
anyhow we will see. after all how much data is hd video (a lot compared to dvd) so imagine how much data is send from a hd dvd movie via the hd dvd drive to the 360, so dosent this proove that its possibal.

if you get a normal pc game and play it through an external dvd drive (one of the modern ones) it works right.

and theridges, in this post im not trying to be sarcastic to you just incase you get the impression i am.

- a halo 3 demo at e3, cant wait, this will prove\ disproove most of this thread. i hope we can get snapshots in a bit.

BTW Bungie will be at E3, but they have already said that they will not be announcing their next project then.
