While Encoding with Shrink 3.2 at 84% or there abouts I get a
"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file "D:\
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
There is nothing wrong with the burner in fact its brand new.. I have only been able to burn one movie without this error showing up. Any Ideas ??

Now see I just tried DVD Decrypter on the same movie and it froze at 83% ... so can it be something in the reg. or on the DVD its self.. I ripped Hoodwinked with no problem. ???

DVD Decrypter as well as DVD Shrink are nolonger updated so they can't handle the encryption/copy protection placed on many of the newer movie releases. What you're experiencing is a classic copy protection problem that shrink (or DVD Decrypter) can't handle, try any of the free rippers I suggested above and you should be ok.
If you still want to be able to use shrink to produce good backups without any problems, try the 21 day free trial using AnyDVD. AnyDVD, once installed will run in the backround to help shrink crack the copy protection on the DVD and produce your backup (kinda install it and forget it, just use shrink as you normally would).

askew,
Here's some info on I/O Errors...
Aside from a copy protection issue, an I/O Error may be displayed to also indicate a physical problem your drive had with the disc (DVD) or a system config issue (but mainly a disc problem).
It can be produced due to unrecovered read errors, seek errors, servo errors, focusing errors, ECC errors etc. all are your drives way of saying "I don't like this disc".
Now...
Make sure you've got the latest version of AnyDVD (6.0.9.0), you can get it here; http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html
Make sure you've got the latest version of DVDFab and/or ripit4me, you can get them from the links above.
Last..
Clean the disc, update your drives firmware (check that out here; http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php), if all fails to resolve the problem try getting another copy of the disk if possible it could be bad.

Well I switched Drive, I have one burnner and on player, but, its been 50/50 sometimes I can copy and sometimes I cant. Most of thetime I am either useing Fab or decripter then using shrink if it wil laccess the file. I also made chocolate fudge last night and that seemed to help my frustrations lol Still fighting....
