I tried to play a PAL DVD so I had to switch the to PAL and I did the y-fix too. But now the screen flickers if DMS4 is enabled. But it works fine its disabled. I tried update to ToxicOS 1.4 and ToxicOS 0.41 and with no success. Anyone know how to put the chip in its default settings so that it the screen goes to "auto" and wont flicker?
Thanks.

Toxic 1.4 is a BIOS only for the Lite version of the DMS4, Toxic OS 0.41 is for the Pro, which one do you have???
on the PAL issues you should only need to configure it to 'Force NTSC' and then there shouldn't be any problems.

I have dms4 pro and toxicbios 1.4. The problem is that I cant get into the video settings b/c the screen flickers enough so that I cant make out the menu. I need someone to tell me the menu setup of toxicbios. I am going in blind on the menu part.

CROSS - Use standard boot (over-ride default boot mode setting)
TRIANGLE - MC Dev.olution mode
START - HDD Dev.olution mode
SELECT - Fast boot mode
SQUARE - Load configuration menu
L1 - Disables modchip when Toxic is installed , SQUARE - Disables when the original bios of dms4 hasn't been upgraded to toxic.
but by all means, load Toxic OS v0.41 if you have the Pro chip, don't waste time with the BIOS only.

I tried ToxicOS. Same story. I need someone to tell me how many keystrokes far the video option is, then how many strokes is it to get it back to NTSC etc

just do this: boot into backup flash and erase the primary flash and reflash with Toxic OS, from standby press reset, wait one second and press reset again, do this a total of three resets with a one second pause between This results in the backup flash bank (which is read-only) being booted instead of the standard flash bank. at this point you should be able to boot the bios/OS flash disk.

yeap, just like the chip originaly came to you. it's a ROM you can't flash it so it's always there for 'backup'
kc
EDIT: just wanted to toss this in, when you reflash from the backup flash, when it says 'Press X To Continue' you need to press L1 L2 R1 R2 instead, this flushes the flash of all data, if you simply write over the old flash it could retain some of the settings that are making your screen flicker.

yes, but when you flash it'll come up 'press x to continue'
don't press x, press L1 L2 R1 R2 all at the same time instead to flush the entire flash bank rather hten just writing over the top of it.

Sorry. Perhaps I still a little confused about the instructions.
1.) From standy, I hit the reset button 3 times with the DMS Bios
2.) The disc boots up and I press L1 L2 R1 R2 all at the same time
3.) Restart?

1. turn on the console with either button reset/eject.
2. if you used reset, then hit eject to open the tray, if you used eject the tray should now be open.
3. insert the Toxic OS v0.41 flash disc into the DVD drive tray.
4. hit the eject button to close the tray (never push the tray)
5. from standy tap reset 3 times with the 1 sec pause to boot backup flash.
6. let the PS2 boot the flash disc.
7. when you get to the screen pictured below DON'T PRESS X
8. now press all 4 sholder buttons at the same time.
9. on screen will say 'now programming DON'T TURN PS2 OFF'
10. when it's completed it'll say restart the PS2, you're done.
kc
EDIT: to include pic as noted above:

if you can't get to that screen with a flash disc or if you can and the shoulder buttons don't do anything you've got a problem other then a setting.
i'll get pics ASAP and post of the Toxic OS BIOS settings screen, not sure if it'll be the same with your Toxic BIOS only.
kc
EDIT: my apologies for the file size if you're on dial up, didn't wanna fool with resizing
on boot:
screen after boot:
Choose Settings and this is the BIOS portion:

we did discuss that previously in this very thread and the user expressed he has the Pro. you can run just the BIOS on the Pro if you so choose, but i see no reason why anyone would want to.

Yes I realize this, my point was maybe he is misinformed and in fact has a lite version. If he could see the screen well enough to enter the config screen of the bios he could determine this with out having to open the console.
@mbiskup
Did you install the chip yourself?

booting the Toxic flash disc also tells you on screen what version console you have, which version chip you have and what hardware build the chip is along with what the current flash version is.
