I had a modchip installed in Chinatown here in NY about 6 months ago that totally disabled the online capability of the PS2. They warned me before installing it that I will never ever be able to play online again. I agreed since I have 2 PS2. I am a newbie to mods so I assumed all chips do this but after reading here on this site, I was proven wrong. My question is, where in NY can I have my mod reinstalled with a different chip that wont enable the online gaming. I will be using original games for online and at the same time use back ups for non online games. Just easier for me not to plug in 2 ps2's. Pleas help. I have no tools nor the skill for modding myself.

Hmm i can't really answer your question much but i wanted to ask you, do you know what chip was installed (name) ??? Also where in chinatown did you do this do they have a # or address ? Most chips have the option to disable it but i'm not so sure what chip you have.

I dunno what modchip they used since I am ignorant with modding and I assumed they are all the same. I am 100% sure that there is no way to use the online capabilities cause I even tried it with original SOCOM games even the first one. The guy there told me this prior to doing the job that I have to say bye bye to online with my ps2. The place is on Elizabeth St, and Canal. The vidgame stores name is "J & L". They charge $100 for the service and you wait, normally no longer than 30 minutes.

woo, i'm sure you can have it remodded but you would probably have to buy a new chip maybe online which will have the disable/enable feature for it then maybe you can bring it back to them and have them remove the old one and solder in the new one. Thanks for the info i'm in the bronx and always wondered if there was a place around nyc that does that but wasn't too sure.

They also sell pre-modded new and used ps2's for future references, and also they sell a japanese ps3 for like $1300 and a usa ps3 for like $1700, whoa!!

Whoa, I think i will pass on the PS3 but maybe if i need soldering maaybe i will check them out and if needed or if they allow it maybe i can bring in my own chip.
