I have a version 12 ps2 slim and I am wondering if there is a mod chip that you can put in that does not require soldering and also does not require a boot disk. I also was wondering if the usb ports on the front of it would support a usb hard drive and if you could play games from the hd. Probably to many questions. Sorry!!

No there is no solderless solution for the slim PSTwo's at this time. DMS was suppose to release yet another incarnation of its famous DMS4 EZFry chip that would support slim consoles. However this has yet to pass TG!

Yes there is a solution for booting backups from a USB HDD its called USBExtreme (hacked version is called USBAdvance). However its very buggy and has low compatibility with games that it actually works with.

Your best bet would be to get a MI or CC installed in your slim with good ol' wire and solder. If this is out of your skill comfort level get a pro to do it.

Have fun!

that is what i have heard about the hd situation. I was told that the slim is easier to install a chip in than the old ones. I might just go ahead and try it myself. After all its only money. lol

The only PS2's that are "easy" to install chip in are the V5 and V7... respectively. For a first timer even those versions will be difficult ;-)

The 7700X (V15)consoles are a little more difficult then the V12/13/14 only because the bios points have become smaller.

Good luck and have fun!
