i'm new at burning with the 360 I'm just wondering do you need a specifc dvd burner for any or all methods

In theory any dual layer capable burner will burn games but in practice not all do, successfully anyway. I had to get a new burner as my old dual layer burner was just not up to the job! Anyway what you need to get is a pioneer dvr-111d I bought one for £23 inc. vat at a local shop but they are readily available online! Also make sure you are using good media (the discs themselves) Verbatim seem to be the best but are expensive. I personally use Traxdata discs with these discs and the pioneer burner I have NEVER had a bad burn! FLAWLESS EVERY TIME :)

I had an NEC 2150 (i think) which was supposed to do booksetting with a firmware upgrade but didn't properly and the first 2-3 disks were coasters. I swapped it for a Pioneer 111d and every burn has been great since. I would definitely recommend the Pioneer along with verbatim media, as do most people on here. I have had 100% success rate up to now.

My LG drive is burning expensive verbatim coasters. I gotta do somthin.

No mate don't buy any other dvd burner than the dvr-111d for burning XBOX 360 games it is the best burner you can get for burning XBOX360 games recommended by everyone that uses one (and most other people)and they are cheaper than the drive you are talking about! I paid £23 (in UK) all in for mine and have been using that for burning and a Samsung-162c flashed with kreon firmware(bought for £17 delivered) for ripping. The 2 drives have no conflict with each other on the same IDE cable (set 1 as master and 1 as slave)on my PC and I have NEVER had a bad rip or burn EVER!!!!

By the way when I switched to the Pioneer dvr-111d for burning I also noticed that all my burns (DVD9, Dual Layer,normal DVD and cd) were much better quality in that now I never have any jumps/skips in music tracks and movies no longer pixulate

Also a quick note I am sure that you will find both these drives for sale anywhere in the world just google them!

O.K. Here's and update that might help some people out.

I went and bought this drive at Best Buy Even though Torrets told me not to......Sorry dude :)

Pioneer 16x Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive

When I opened the box........come to find out the drive that is in this package is a PIONEER DVR-111D!!

Now I'm REALLY happy.........It works perfect every time at every speed I've tried.

So if anybody needs one of these drives..........You can get one at Best Buy for $69.
