my ps2 will read the cd splinter cell 2 but when i start a new game the red screen will appear (insert playstatio 2 format disc). the same problem with the game TRUE CRIME: New York City. And I cannot play the MGS snake eater hidden mimi game (snake's nightmare) because of the same problem. Lastly for the game call of duty 2 and 3 when i finish a mission and save the same problem occurs, so I need to reboot my ps2 to play the next mission. Anyone with working solution for these problem, pls. help me...........thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!:D

personally i do not think i have heard this problem before.
And these games you are using, they are the original games and not a copy right?

Unless you possible have to clean and align the laser. Or just plain replace it i can't really think of a reason the system would do that.

Yeah man ive got the exact same problem with True Crime:NYC (mid menu loading after logos) and in MGS3:subsistence disc one sometimes when i load a saved game it gives me red original disc screen. Ive tried searching for a solution but i cannot find anything. I dont think (and hope) its not a laser problem because all my other backups work fine from oldest games to newest such as bully etc.

BTW I use the cogswap exploit on a fat ps2 with tdk DVD-R.
True Crime is the first game to ever not load at all for me, anyways hopefully some genius will figure it out soon...
