Hi, I fianlly got my Olevia 537H 37" HD LCD and loving it. I got it for $844 and the picture could only be better if I spent 2k.

Anyway, I hooked it up with cables I got from Time Warner. I get most channels, but this is strange, it says I have to subscribe to some normally included channes LIKE QVC??? So weird. Plus, they accendiently gave me every premium channel for free. I opted not to pay for the DVR or the 5 HD channels like ESPN and stuff.

So, far I haven't been able to get ANY channels in HD. Does time Warner only have those 5 pay chanels in HD? Aren't the major networks like CBS & NBC HD in prime time atleast? Even HBO isn't HD. I still have greybars on the sides and on some channels I have grey bars on the sides AND top and bottom.

Before I spend 2 hours on the phone has anyone been through this? Is it a TWC problem or TV setup problem?

One more question: Would I get an even better picture if I hooked up the cable box with an HDMI cable like Olevia suggests?

Yes you should get a better pic with an HDMI connection. I probably have some bad news for you: Those free premium channels won't last long. It usually takes a day or two before they set up your box correctly. The black bars around the picture could be an issue with your cable box output. There is a service menu that you can access to set the box to output at a 16:9 ratio as well as adjust the output resolution, from 480i on up. In your case you should set this to 720p, as that is the closest to the native res of your set. Your best bet is to call TW and ask them how to set up your box correctly. I have a comcast box and to access the menu: T.V. is on, cable box is OFF. On the cable box remote press (quickly) menu, down, right. You may have to try a couple of times and may see the display of the box flash some letters. You should get a menu on the T.V. screen that is self explanatory as far as settings. Good luck!

Sorry, I didn't realize you didn't subscribe to the HD channels. Usually the network channels are included in the HD channel package, if you subscribe to HBO or other pay channels, the HD version is included in the HD package. That could be why you are not getting any HD. You may have figured this out already.
