Which one of these two cheat devices should I buy to run on a Slim PS2?

I've never personally dealt with the Xploder cheat system, though I've heard some good things. Something I CAN tell you is Action Replays great ability to have errors, bugs, and simply smaller code selections. On games that aren't "massively popular" like Mobile Suit Gundam games, or things like that... AR simply doesn't have half as many, or as good codes as rivals like Gameshark.

I've personally owned AR, AR Max and now a Gameshark 2(newest edition) and I prefer Gameshark way more. The code selection is great, the menus aren't quite as nice as AR's but who cares, the codes are what counts.

So if these are the only 2 your considering, I'd suggest Xploder even though I haven't used it, simply due to the bugs/errors or Action Replay.

Thank you for taking the time to reply fuel_f2f. I have one other question regarding the AR Max. It comes with Region X DVD doesn't it? Well I was wondering does this work on the Slim PS2? Not much point me getting it if it doesn't. Also does it allow the PS2 to ouput RGB for DVD playback? There is a lot of contradiction surrounding this issue as a 'green screen fix' could be degrading the signal qaulity to composite instead of keeping it in RGB.

Action Replay does come with DVD Region X. The menu and how you navigate AR Max is simply outstanding. I'm kind of disappointed at how bland and strange Gameshark is set up after using AR Max for so long. But the glitches and less codes made me switch.

As far as RGB goes... Datel(makers of Action Replay) have a DVD Region X disc you can buy separately... But DVD Region X is also included in AR Max. The DVD Region X sold separately advertises ability to play from SCART and RGB.

Now one would assume that the DVD Region X included in AR Max would also have such an ability. As the AR Max description itself just saids "Turn your PS2 into a multi-region DVD player and watch movies from other countries." So they go into no detail.

You can always give Datel/Codejunkies a call to ask if you need confirmation.

I've personally only used AR Max not AR Max evo. Oh and AR Max does work on a slim, anything before version 3.3 I think. You don't really have to worry about getting a version lower than that as they were replaced at least a year or 2 ago.

I hope this helps!
