I have a small child who has watched my backed-up version of Cars around 6 times so far. Now today the disc will not play at all. Is there any kind of protection that will limit how many times you can view a backed up disc? I've never had any problems like this before. Any advice well appreciated. Thanks.

Haven't heard of any issues like that...what brand discs did you use to make your backup with?

Have you inspected the disc to make sure that it is in good condition...hasn't been bent or scratched...dirty little finger prints on it?

This is what is happening now with the disc. When I push "play" it appears like it is going to play and then it immediately "stops". Humm. This is really weird!!!

i'd do a 'CRC scan' ie check the disc for corruption ie could be subtely damaged now, though this could be the dvd player throwing a fit.. (or both)

How do you accomplish the 'CRC scan'? Thanks.

My thoughts would be that the disc is damaged in some way...Taiyo Yudens are some of the best and shouldn't degrade that quickly.

I thought I would throw in my two cents. Even thought it looks like the problem has been solved. Taiyo Yuden is the best but no company is perfect if you bought a spool and this is the only one doing this I would say it the disc. Just curiuos have you tried it in your computer or other dvd players. I backed up cars and kids seem to watch it over and over with no problems.
Don't you hate it When people say, "It's always in the last place you look". What the HELL??? Of course it
is. Why the HELL would you keep looking for it after you've already found it?
Who the HELL are these people?

This is why it's important to teach kids to properly handle DVD discs and to keep them clean. I have some friends who buy movies from the store brand new and have scratches all over them within a matter of days. I will just create another disc as I have my collection stored on a 250 gb external drive. Thanks for everyone's input.
