I wanted to buy my daughter a ps2 and have no knowledge of the machine at all or accessories. She will be doing DDR Extreme?? on it all the time. Can someone tell me what to buy and what accesories would be best?
Thank you

depends what you really plan to do. If she is good about not damaging the game disc and you have no plans on backing games up on a DVD so the original can not be damaged then i would just go to a local game store like EBGames, Gamstop or other and buy a refurbished model.

i would do some research and go into the store asking specific questions. Like what version PS2 it is
http://www.mod-chip.com/ps2version.htm

the V7 is widely considered the best model that they have made.
And most people will tell you that the older "chunky" models were better than the new "slinmline" models because you do not have the laser issues, heat issues, and could easily add a hard drive at a later date provided that the system comes with a network adapter.

as far as accesories, and extra controller is always nice, pretty much every game will need a memory card, a universal dance pad will most likely be needed and the basic floor model is only $19.99
and of course the newest game Dance Dance Revolution Supernova.
Not sure if the eyetoy is something that you need or just an extra so check into that too.

If you think she will plau online then you will need to make sure you get the network adapter and also what is known as as
RJ-45 Crossover Cable to be able to hook to your PC for internet play with her friends or anyone else online.

the 50 foot cable is only $12.99 at CompUSA if any are around you.

and there is a link to all the different types of pads you can get. But you can search around for the best price of course.

that is actually a pretty good deal as the game and one pad at a retail store like EBgames or Best Buy is $59.99

and lastly if she is hard on discs and you feel you will have to replace those $50 games due to damage then you can go to Teammodders.com and buy a premodded system with a modchip so it can play back up games, in other works you burn a copy and she uses it and you take the original and keep it safe.

hope this helps more than it confuses :)
