Lite-On DVD RW external drive not burning

Hi I just bought a Lite On Dvdrw SHM165P6S MSOP external drive and each time i try and use imgbrn to back up my dvds after i have made them iso. images using ripit4me, dvdshrink, dvddercerptor and i get an error! The error reads as follows:I/O error Device[0:0:0] Lite On DVDRW SHM 165P6S MSOP Scsistatus OxO2 Interpretation: Check Condition CDB 2A OO OO OO OB AO OO OO 2O OO Cannot Write Medium: Incompatable Format I am ready to throw it out the window. No but really do need some help! I do have the latest firmware. and i do have usb 2.0.. Any help will be greatly appriciated.. oh yea, this drive is a DL drive

their is always problems burning with external usb 2.0 burners,i know i had it with my sony,it is now sorted,what i had to do is buy verbatims 16x DVD-R and burn them at 6x speed and problem sorted,i kept getting power calibration errors,it took me 4 weeks to find this fix but im happy now:)hope this helps

i have a couple liteon externals 1693's..in fact thats all i use most of the time..
no problems burning dvd using the programs ye use and CloneDVD..
they are installed on win-2000,xp-home and xp-pro..

check ye firmware its at msop

I updated my firmware which was updated to its fullest to begin with and i still can only get the burner to burn every once in awhile.. Anyone else have any suggestions!! other than that it looks like i should get ant internal DL dvd burner

Try different USB cables...yours may be bad. Also try different ports.

ok.... external DVD burners sometimes have problems with their cables and also hooking up to the computer (Ports)! if you have more than one free USB port available try switching to a different one. Also, if you are using a firewire that could be the culprit! My external BenQ 1655 did not like it's firewire hook up.... but it runs perfectly with it's USB hook up! go figure!

GET A 2.0 USB ADD IN CARD (example} LIKE ADAPTEC
thats what i use..

if ye drive is not bad that should fix it..

note: my card has firewire and usb ports...

Well i tried relocating my usb cable into a differnt port and reinstalling the dvd burner! still wont work.. now im going to go with Ireland's idea and give that a shot!! What do i have to lose, right?

I didnt have any luck with the stand alone usb card!! I guess im just not supposed to burn with my external dvd dl burner!! however i have another question! i was on ebay and i saw there are stand alone dvd burner systems out there!! i was wondering if you can use those with your pc or what not!!
