Hi
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this so if you'd be kind enough to move it to where you know it's appropriate if this forum is not, then i'd be grateful :)

anyway, as the subject says, i tried to load one of my ps2 games (God of War) into my comp's dvd-drive (not burner). Nothing happened.. the disc didn't even speed up at all (well i think it might've sped up a little bit, but not near enough for it to be audible..)
I was kind freaked out because i thought it might be the game or DVD that had gone to smithereens, but i tried to play the game on my ps2 and it worked fine, and i tried loading another of my DVD games (half-life 2) into my DVD and it worked fine as well. So i tried another Ps2 game (san adreas) and it wouldn't be read either (when i try and open the content in "my computer" then i get an error saying the data might be corrupt...)

could anyone give any clue as to what might be the problem?

is there a chance that the discs are scratched or dirty?
That could effect how the DVD drive reads the disc.
other than that any standard DVD burner or DVD-Rom drive should be able to at least read the information.
It is like my laptop, it has the CD/DVD-Rom combo.
So it can read a disc, and copy the disc to hard drive. But since it is DVD-Rom and not a DVD Burner i can not burn it to disc.

One of the first things i always tell people with drive problems is check the internet for newer firmware and inatll it if there is any.
Then possible clean the disc and try again.

that was kind of like my old dvd drive. Your dvd drive has problems most likely, not the games. To test further, maybe you should try to put a dvd movie in it instead and see if you can access it. If you cant, then it is definitely your dvd drive.Luckily i recently got my old dvd drive replaced with a dvd drive/burner i got on black friday
