I just recently purchased Magic Swap v3.6 with Flip top, I installed it on my PS2 (the fat version with 10 screws) and I also use Nero Burning Rom to burn my iso files. When I tried to play my backups of Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles and aswell as my Final Fantasy 12 back up, neither of them worked and both of them resulted in the same error. I also tried to load an ORIGINAL PS2 game, while I tried to load it through Magic Swap, it said "not a valid PS2 disc" just as it did with my back ups.
This is how my procedure went:
Loaded my iso file into Nero Burning Rom, clicked File, Open, found my iso file in it's directory. Burned it as DVD considering both of my back ups were DVD, and used a Sony DVD+R to burn it with. I burned it at the lowest speed possible, and finalized the burn aswell.
After the burn, I would load the Magic Swap DVD disc, Swap cds with my flip top and instert my back up, set it to NSTC, and then hit "X" on "load program". Then I would recieve the error in blue letters saying "not a valid PS2 disc". This also goes for ORIGINAL games I insert into it, so that kinda throws me off a little. Like, even if I am burning my iso's wrong, why would an Original PS2 game say the same error?
I read all around google and yahoo before I posted here to see if I could find my own results, I also saw that this question was asked here quite a few times aswell but nowhere this question was answered.
I also read that the "Playstation's laser is very picky and required a high quality dvd cd". I also heard that not all PS2's read DVD+R, some can mainly read DVD-R. So with that being said, tomorrow I'm going to purchase some Verbitim DVD-R cds and see if that makes a difference, that's the best I do as far as answering my problem on my own.
So I need you guys for advice! All help is always greatly appreciated!
Details:
isos (all dvd)
Patches Needed for these?: No, I've already checked.
DVD+R (Sony DVD+R)
Nero
Swap Magic 3.6
Flip top case
If you need any additional information, don't be afraid to ask.
******UPDATE******
Okay, today I purchased the Verbatim DVD+R's and actually the first try, boom it worked! BUT.. It worked for about 4-5 times, also it would only get me as far as the company credit's and the menu saying "you have no ps2 memory card inserted" ect. I couldn't get to the intro, nor the main menu or even play the game. But it actually loaded. Then afterwards, when it stopped working it continued on making the same error message "not a valid ps2 disc" =(..
Now my question is, people say that some PS2's read DVD-R cds, but mine in this case read the DVD+R's I purchased today but suddenly stopped. Buying the -R's wouldn't solve this problem, considering the +R's worked the first few times right?
Also, I spent 4-5 hours adjusting my laser, cleaned my laser, and it made my discs run faster when I found that position, but it still gives me the error message of "not a valid PS2 disc" =(..
What should I do? =(

its something to do with your laser, could be too worn out or out of place. Search around this forum for a PS2 laser fixing guide.

Do original PS2 games work fine (w/o using Swap Magic)? If that's the case, there could be a problem with either Swap Magic or the flip top.

I just tried to load an original game, and it actually didn't work however I just noticed it JUST so happend to recieve a nasty scratch on it. And the only other game I own, was stolen by some kid my sister was watching over my house =\..
So tomorrow I'm going to borrow a friends game after I get off of work, and also purchase some -R blank dvd's since I read that V4 PS2s and under only read -R's. (even though mine read +R a few times)
I'll let you know tomorrow how it went, thank you for your help so far.

^^To find that answer, my thread wouldn't quite be the best place to find that out now would it =]..
But yes just as I thought!! It works now!! I knew it was the media! (and hoped to god it was lol). I purchased the Verbatim DVD-R's (the one's I was supposed to get yesterday but grabbed the wrong pack =(..).. I went out to bestbuy today and bought them, burned it, played it and POW. Worked wonders, works better than any originals I used to run. (Though I'm sure the laser adjusting had that to do with)
Thank you all for your help anyways, I appreciate it. I hope someone else in the future reads this post, and finds the solution.

Well I'm no expert, and I also just just fixed my problem. But I would personally say that it depends on which PS2 version you have. Like in my situation, I had a version 4 and under PS2. I read somewhere quite a few times that they only read -R's, and thereafter can read +R's.
So that's the only suggestion I can give, hope it works for ya.

The Action Replay method of booting is the poor man's way to boot backups & doesn't boot as much as Swap Magic will due to TOC limitations.
Buy Swap Magic!
Always 1st with 100% working PS2 Online Game DNA$ IDs!!
