I have looked at the diagram and I understand what needs to happen, I just am having a difficult time because there is so little room to work with on the board itself. I have had to retry and remove solder so many times that the top right corner (there is a hold that allows for two soldering points) no longer has contacts with solder. Unfortunately, it appears I have taken up the solder at those two points when removing my own work.

Is there another connection point that will work, such as the small holes that appear to be in the same wiring path as the solder originally was? Is it smart to use wires instead of soldering the chip on directly? I guess I don't really have a choice now. Worst case scenario I guess I sell this cube and buy another one, or buy another mod chip so I can start with a fresh spot.

I didn't had this problem, i gave the chip and the gc to a mate of mine and he fixed it for me. But if i were you i would look around on either www.google.com or www.youtube.com for handy tips, look for movies where they explain or give tips.

Alright after watching a tutorial I could probably do it, my soldering iron must just have too big of a tip, I'll buy a small one. The problem is, I think I destroyed two of the contacts so can anyone answer that other question, if I just solder the wires onto the little circles below the solder spots that are supposed to be there is that the same path?

You can use wires if you like. I also recommend using a low watt soldering iron and a very small tip.

Thanks goes out to theridges for the userbars :)
