I have heard that ps2's with mod chips can't play games online... Is this true, if so is ther a chip that gets around it? I want to still be able to play games online.

Only certain chips allow you to go online (Matrix Infinty, DMS, Crystal.) because they have a built in sealth mode that turns off the chip when you access the internet. As far as I know those are the only chips that allow you to still go online with your games

To play backups online, you need to patch the image file with the appropriate DNA$ Disc ID, and once patched, DNA$ no longer detects the modchip anyway no matter what chip you have.
SockKing's post reffered ONLY to chips that have DNA$ bypassing, where there isn't a need to patch the image file before burning, however, their bypass function doesn't work on all games anyway, so it's always better to take the 10 seconds required to patch the image file with the Disc ID.

Hi ace1uk,
Could you explain more on the patch of dna disc cause I would like to go online with my mod ps2, I think I have a ripper3 mod chip.

Patching is easy u have a program that you select the iso/image file. Type in the DNA$ code, apply it, then burn its extreamly fast. but there are also a slower method if that prog doesnt work
