I just read somewhere that adhesive labels are bad, and i have a few backups that are labelled with glue and paper on top. Will this in any way destroy my ps2 laser, etc?

Also, is CMC MAG AM3 good media brand to use for my ps2? I have model SCPH 5001. Thanks.

Sticker labels cause lots of problems because they make the disc thicker than it should be making it harder for the player to spin them. Unevenness in the label can cause skipping/jumping at times.
But none of that is as bad as those CMC MAG stay the hell away from them within a month you will need a new laser.

TDK's do have good batches, but more than likely they are nearly as bad as Memorex. Can find Verbatems and Taiyo Yuden at http://www.supermediastore.com or other computer stores might have them.
