hello.
i am trying to converting video from from 2 CD-i discs onto one DVD.
i have already ripped the .dat files from both of the CD-i discs.
The .dat files are about 500-600MB each.
i have renamed the .dat files to .mpg files.
the audio/video of the .mpg files are of decent quality when i play them on my computer.
the sound on cd-i discs are supposed to be digital audio.
i attempted to burn the .mpg files onto a DVD.
The .mpg files were converted to dvd files with DVDSanta and then burned to DVD with DVDShrink.
The resulting DVD was absolutely horrible.
The video was very pixelated, out of sync, and the sound was muddled and distorted.
How do i convert and burn a DVD with the same audio/video quality of the original CD-i discs?

hi there, firstly let me start with saying, when you encode (convert) anything, you are bound to lose 'some' quality, its just the way it goes .

as to getting a better result i suggest trying VSO ConvertXtoDVD, here: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

try the free trial, if it works good. buying it is a good option, its a very VERY good all in one DVD tool

i tried the trial.
it converted the mpg's to the dvd flawlessly.
the quality of the sound/video was great.
it is possible to manually set where the chapters
occur on the dvd? the program you recommended only
does it in increments of 5. thank you in advance.

glad convertXtoDVD worked OK for you, as to your question the answer is really a no and a yes.

you cannot set chapters at different times apart. i.e chapter two is three minutes after chapter one whereas chapter three is four minutes away from chapter two. sadly that is not possible.

however you can change the generic settings and have a chapter every 1,2,3,4,5,6...... what ever mins you like.

to do this; in the main window select, settings then chapters, the option to manipulate the chapter settings can be found here.
