Hi there.

Im a proud owner of a NEC DVD RW ND-4570A.

With loads of succseful DVD5 burning using DVD Decrpter, Nero and CloneDVD2, I have now bought my first pack of DVD9 discs. They are AONE Dual Layer 240Min 8.5GB 8x DVD+R. A pack of 10 cost me £11.00

So I try backing up a few diferent DVD9s, but DVD Decrypter doesnt want to know me. I also tried Nero and CloneDVD2. Still nothing. I can rip the the image onto my Hard Drive ok, but when I start to burn with DVD Decrypter, it gives me an error. Am I doing something wrong? I could not find a firmware update for my burner. Any help and advice would be great. Thanx!

Hi CabmanNIR
Might just be the discs you are using - Aone I have no clue on who makes those but decrypter will tell you.
Pop a blank in the drive - the media info and manfacturer info will be listed on the right.

Better dual layer to use would be Verbatim.

The latest firmware for your drive is 1.03. If you don't have that one here's a link.

If you are burning higher than 4x on these - take it down to 4x.

A more updated burning program to try also would be ImgBurn. Same guy that did decrypter but ImgBurn doesn't rip - just a burning program.

Hey thanks man, Its worked a treat. I did exactly what you said and it seems to be burning away. Just a few things, I have my burn speed at 2.4x, is that ok?
Also the verify box is ticked, do i leave it ticked or untick it?

Thanx!

You are likely to get better recordings on DL media at 2.4X than at 4X, particularly at the layer transition point. Unchecking the verification box will speed up the whole process, but leaving it checked assures you that your recordings have no immediate problems due to physical flaws or computer hiccups. It's your choice.
