Hi,
I have just bought a second hand Xbox 360 premium which has been modded to play backups. I have tried two backups - Gears of War and Need For Speed Carbon which are on Ridisc DVD's and both work.
Is there any way to know what firmware is on the drive, as the person I bought the console from said he sent it away to be modded, as he was scared to do it himself!
How easy would it be to update the firmware if required (say for eg. newer games) if I don't know what is already flashed? I also don't have a copy of the original firmware for the drive(would this be a problem?)

First, eject the drive and tell us which one it is? Hitachi or Samsung..
Did you friend have a disc with his original firmware on it?

I'm sure it's a Samsung, and no the person I bought it from does not have the orignal firmware as he sent it away for modding.

Do you solve ur problem mate.Actually i am in the same situation,So please anybody tell us how to know what firmware is installed on our 360 drive and how do we get the original firmware or key for future update.Actually i want to update my drive's firmware.

Is the "Maximus 360 Firmware Toolbox v.3.0 - Flash HLG v.78" the latest firmware update for "Maximus-Garyopa Hitachi-LG Xtreme v.2.3 Stealth 8in1"?

Before I flash my drive I need to know I have the latest version. Please let me know which I should use.
