if you haven't changed any of the Video carrier settings in XBMC (NTSC/PAL) then it could be the video chip on the MOBO.

i agree, i would try some different video settings on your Xbox
first. It could just be that somehow they got set differently.
Plus fooling with those will not cost you more $$$

with the modchip you will be able to do that with no problems.

you might also try formatting the harddrive and reloading your XBMC and try it before you do any swapping, that'll defiantly rule out it being a software issue.

You need to find a 50/60 hz tv... It is in the settings.. usually somewhere in the system settings (i never use xbmc as a dash because it's just too touchy) is an enable 50 or 60 hz setting. Whatever one it is set to is wrong..as it's a permanant setting reinstalling everything won't make a bit of difference. It will save itself across a reformat. The GPU doesn't fail in this way...

the GPU (an nVidia NV2A @ 233Mhz) can most certainly get out of calibration (deterioration of silicone polymers causes changes in resistance/capacitance/impedance) and drift in frame rate causing the exact described output this user has described.

also formatting the harddrive and doing a new install WILL correct any software issues, an XBOX does not have any form of OS it simply has a BIOS (which isn't programmable via software on the harddrive or DVD drive) and everything (including settings) come from the encoded executable .xbe files. the GPU and the CPU share the only writable memory and it's 64 meg of RAM that all data is lost from when power is removed/turned off.

format the harddrive, reinstall your original C/E drive (you should have backed those up when you modded the box the first time) and then reinstall your XBMC. if the problem was in your software (XBMC) then it will now be fixed.

when you first turn the box on if your video is all scrambled during the flubber it's the GPU otherwise it should still boot an AIDeluxe disc and allow you to format the drive and FTP back the original files.

I know this is dumb, but I have fixed two boxes with the exact same prob. You need to dl enigmah's video switcher disk, burn it and cold boot it. Then hold "A" and restart (if you are PAL hold B). It might fix the damn thing.

when you load AID can you make out the screen enough to tell what it says next to 'Video' at the bottom left?? is it PAL or NTSC?

enigmah's video switcher is a program to swap the carrier signal on the box.

you can give the enigmah's a try then, i find it highly unlikely that you've swapped the carrier unless you were playing with said program to start with. :)

hmmm, xbins should have it, and if not jsut try the torrent networks. And burning it to just about any old disk should be fine.

Most boxes wont read a CD-R and Most won't read a CD-RW unless you do a full format on it prior to burning, I'd suggest a DVD-R, and they are cheaper then CD-Rs to boot.
