How do I do this? Using the DMS format tool I was able to create a separate 30gb partition, but unable to load on any files because Windows doesn't recognize the PS2 file system. I nearly corrupted my drive trying out different ways to make this work, even the PFS Explorer type program made to read and write in the PS2 file system won't work (besides seeming a little buggy as a program to begin with).

Going through FTP, I can't transfer files normally through any of the FTP server-side programs I've tried on the PS2 aside from using HDLoader specific programs to load games.

Help would be appreciated. I'm looking to create this partition to use with the SMS media player.

As somewhat related side question (asked and unanswered in another thread), are their programs that will play h.246 format videos on the PS2? Is it too taxing for the system to play at decent frame rates and/or resolutions on this format?

Dont know all the formats sms player can play.

But you can use Uluanchelf to copy files (e.g. videos, mp3s, elfs) from a cd or dvd or usbstick/hdd to you partitioned HDD.

Yes as Xplaya has stated ULE would be the best for what your trying to do. ULE even has its own FTP server.

As for the h.246 codex on the PS2 I'm pretty sure SMS doesn't support this, and I don't think there is currently an homebrew media player for the PS2 that does.

I have uLaunch, tried it's built in FTP program, didn't work, tried putting in my owned pre-burned DVD discs with the video files on them and the drive wouldn't recognize the files. Either the media is unrecognizable on this drive or the burn speed was too fast, I burned these discs for use in PCs before I even purchased a PS2.

Let me clarify, I've managed to access the folder on the HDD (actually a separate partition seen as a folder through FTP), but transferring files into the folder doesn't work. It tells me it already has a folder in there with the same name as the file I'm intending to put in there, and if I let it replace it with the file the transfer will still fail and I could potentially corrupt the partition (which I did once before, before fixing it through WinHIIP).

Creating a new partition through Partition magic also worked, but corrupted something on the drive that once again required me to fix it through WinHIIP. The drive appears unpartitioned through Partition magic to begin with, it doesn't recognize the PS2 game partitions so this was a dead-end.

I don't own a large enough USB pen drive to make this uLaunch transfer to HD work, if I had a 4gb, 2gb or even 1gb drive I would consider it, but I only have a 128mb stick and perhaps 40gb of videos to move (if converted to DVD movie format they would likely exceed the capacity of my 250gb drive).

Any other ideas?

Yeah! Delete the DMS HDD tool! Then with ULE's HDD manger delete the partition you created with the DMS HDD tool. Then create a new patition with ULE's HDD manager for your movies, then try and upload your files through ULE's FTP to this partition. This might work better.

What FTP client are you using. I have never had any issues with the ULE FTP.

Did exactly that and it didn't work. Strangely though, and it appears this was always a problem but I can't upload ANYTHING, ANYWHERE through FTP. I had never tried uploading stuff elsewhere besides the HDD before so I assumed it was a problem relating to the HDD only but it doesn't work anywhere (not even the uploading to the USB drive through the PS2 works even through it works when I upload directly when connected to PC).

I've been using CuteFTP this whole time, it seem through sheer luck that while playing with the upload settings I was able to upload a small video through the upload filtered option. I couldn't replicate this result again though.

Should I opt for another PC FTP client side program? Are there particular settings I could change to make this work?

Ok FlashFXP works, it'll upload to the HDD, successfully. Two problems though, the transfer speed is SLOW at 200k/s and SMS media player doesn't seem to recognize .ogm files encoded in DivX 5.05 playing them as mp3s before freezing altogether. *sigh*

It sounds like your issue is network related, but I cant be sure. Are you using a cross over cable, hub, router, ...?

The network issue has been resolved.

PS2 Reality player doesn't recognize .ogm either, it's a DivX format that uses a ogg vorbis audio stream, saves on file space but probably won't work with any PS2 media player and I doubt the PS2 can handle the resolutions some of these videos play at.

Those are the only 2 media players I use and know of that work good.

You might have to convert your video into a standard DivX format or something.

Some of these videos are high quality anime fansubs, I would first need to make sure that they would be playable on the PS2 which might mean converting one video for testing purposes.
