Bad Swap Magic DVD?

I just got the Swap Magic 3.6 CDs and have succesfully gotten the CD to load but when try to load the DVD it won't work. No issues with Disc Read Error, system starts up throws up the "Playstation 2" logo and then it sounds like it tries to read the disc but is stuck seeking over and over. Regular DVD/CD games work on the system, and so do burned DVDR movies. And like I mentioned, the CD version works but the DVD doesn't. I'm trying to figure out if this is a problem with the DVD copy I have or if its just my age old system (V3, this is first disc I've had issues with so far).

I watched the laser read the disc and see where it stopped. From the looks of it, the laser get stuck about a 1cm in from the edge on one of the really large non-silver circular lines. I got lucky once while I was tweaking the laser adjustment gear while the laser was trying to read the spot and got it to either read something or skip it and it loaded into the "Load Program" screen. (Normally it'll just sit there and try reading indefiantly).

So laser or DVD problem?

BTW, since my CD version works of the Swap Magic, could I get by with just swapping out for a larger TOC game say Xenosaga or something, and be able to play normal DVDs still?
