ELF stands 'for Executable and Linkable Format' and are executables that can be run on a PS2. If you have have softmodded your PS2, you can use a file manager & executable launcher such as uLaunchELF to execute these files.

im assuming that swap magic is a elf launcher as well or is it usb advance?

Most launchers like uLaunchELF are run via exploit. However, Swap Magic 3.8 Coder allows you to execute ELF files (previous versions do not). USB Advance simply allows you to install your games on a USB HDD connected to your console. What are you trying to do?

im trying to play my ps2 games from my usb hdd on my ps2

Data transfer with USB Advance is slow and there are numerous compatibility issues. With that said, I've found these threads which may be of use to you:

hey thanks the second link was extremely helpful. one question though... if your suppose to burn usb advanc on a cd an place in ps2 how do u boot with swap magic 3.6? isnt swap magic a cd too?

maybe im getting it wrong. place swap magic cd in ps2 boot up then remove that cd then insert usb advance?

and another question just to be absolutely sure. i partitioned my usb hdd (drive F and H) F had a lot of very important info on it if i format drive H using USB EXTREME will the info on drive F remain intact and untouched?

sorry but tomake things more complicated for someof the steps i see "insert disc in ps2"... what if the lens not working isnt there anyway to say put an image of the cd/dvd (for e.g. the swap magic dvd) and then attach sum form of autoplay toit or something.

so basically how to play the game without the lens.
