I purchased Air Buddies and Fox and the Hound 2 for my kids this week. Do to how hard they are on DVDs I backed them up. Fox and Hound 2 went off with out a hitch. Used RipIt and Shrinks. Air Buddies on the other hand worked to back up. But will not play on are high end DVD player. The cheapy one we got for the kids thou, it does play on. Was wondering if anyone knows of an option to correct this? We like to watch most movies together on family night. Tend to do so on main TV. The movie starts to play and then goes back to Stop. Tried pushing play again and repeats itself. I even tried just letting it play. I know I took menus out. Being a disney flick and all. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Will try again.

What brand media are you using for you backups? +R or -R? Can your drive booktype +R media?

The el cheapo players are generally more tolerant of what you throw at them, the high end players seem to be a little more picky. Always use quality media from Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden...booktype if you can.

I am using Fuji disks. Have for years and never had an issue. I assumed they are fairly high end.

+R media. Dell burner and will only use +R to my knowledge.

Never did booktype. But honestly not sure what this. I am still learning this.

Thanks for the reply

Some additional Info

I used RipIt4Me with Shrinks and Nero. If that helps. Fox and the Hound 2 plays fine. But has no menus. Not sure if that is a factor. I did not select to take them out. But its how it came out when finished backing up.

RipIt4Me
DVD Decyrpter
Shrinks
Nero

Have used this process several times without issue. I did back up World Trade Center this morning with same process and came out fine. I want to try it to see if it was a common issue with what I did or just something added on by manufactuer.

Here is a little bit about booktyping.

Fuji aren't the worst...depends on where they are made and what the MID code is. Fuji outsources discs to different manufacturers, so one spindle may be made by one company while the next spindle may be made by someone completely different. Verbatims and Taiyo Yuden are recommended because they are more consistent and have higher compatability degrees.

As for the process, I'd ditch the Nero for the time being and use DVD Decrypter or Imgburn for my burning.

Since you are using Nero why not post a log and we can see if everything is in order...here is a tut on posting your log.

Maybe I was mistaken. I ran RipIt4Me in Wizard Mode. And followed its instructions. DVD Decyrpter did its thing. Then ran it through FixIT (Think thats what its called - at work can't double check). When prompted I ran through shrinks. All worked fine. Basically at that point I put the blank in when prompted. When I back up I have all other programs closed. Pretty much walk away and just look over shoulder for next step when prompted. I will try it again tonight. And post log at that point. Thanks for the instructions. Also will make a note of media type suggestion. I have always bought Fuji disks. All blanks. Really never had an issue but did not know how they do it with other companies.

Your burn logs are already there, you don't have to save them when prompted...so you won't have to go through the process all over again.

LOCOENG

Thanks for the input. I tried it again last night and payed a little more attention to it. Double checking my steps. I did realise I skipped a step. Hence why it did'nt work. The second back up I did plays in the high end player with out issue. Guess my lesson learned is to be a little extra careful and pay more attention. Darn multi tasking. LOL

Thanks again

glad you got it sorted....this isn't really that hard once you get the process down. Happy Burning.
