I've been trying to get my Disgaea back up to work. I'm using Swap Magic CD + CDLoader combo with Xenosaga 1 TOC refresh, (Swap Magic dvd won't read in my system). TDK Media, DVD-R. Using IMGBurn, burned at 6x (thats as low as I can get it, with my paticular drive).

Weird thing is that. I have another backup, Katamari Damacy, that works fine using the TDK media, but when I burn Disgaea or another game, on the TDK media, its complete no go.

I have a V3 and I have been struggling with DRE/Laser issues, but it just came off as aodd that I can have one game work on the same media but the next, not.

Is it likely the lasaer or another problem?

Thanks

TDK works for some people and not for others
For me it was a hit or miss type of thing. Like you
i had some games work fine while others would not, and mine
had nothing to do with my laser being bad.

that page may help you correct your DRE etrrors. First step would be cleaing the laser and testing a few games, next would be the long
process of adjusting the laser until you find a position that works.
and i would try some better media, and find out how to lower the
burning speed. Unless that media you use is 16X speed there is
no way you should be burning it at 6X

My suggestion is to get some Verbatim 8X DVD-R
If you order online then go to Supermediastore.com
get some Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R (silver lacquer premium line)

Sucky part about laser adjustment with the V3 is that the adjustment won't stick so even if I found a new position that did work, every time the system starts up from power off, I would have to readjust the laser.

Thanks for the info on the TDK media. I'll look into trying Verbatim. TDK was the best thing at the local Staples so I grabbed that.

Thanks.
