Getting straight to the point. I just recently bought a new ps2 hdd with
nothing on it because the old one (which had Final Fantasy XI on it) died.

The new ps2 HDD will not show up in the PS2's main browser menu where the memory card and stuff is.

It just won't. I can hear it booting up when I start the PS2. I started up uLaunch and reformatted the PS2 HDD over and over. I noticed that a folder on the PS2 HDD called "__boot" would sometimes dissappear when I reformatted it.

Then if I formatted it again the file would come back.

I need the start up files for my ps2 hdd. What ever the file's called that makes the HDD boot and visible in the main ps2 browser menu.

I got to have it lol. Please help me!! I can use this HDD with anything else, even with my pc but the bastard just won't show up in the ps2 browser menu!!!!!

Edit:

Found out that I needed a HDD Utility Disc 1.01 for PS2 which makes the HDD visible on it. It was supposed to come bundled with FFXI but it didn't.

I've found about 4 torrents for this HDD Utility disc but none of them work. For the love of man kind and my sanity, could somebody please give a working link to this HDD Utility disc?

@Alkaiser

Why do you need to be able to see the HDD through the Sony browser? Are you trying to use it with the official FFXI discs? Otherwise just boot up HDL and go!

Have fun!

I don't have a mod chip installed. I use swap magic DVD and CD. I need it to show up in the PS2 browser so I can start up Playonline Viewer so I can play Final Fantasy XI. ; ;

I found the PS2 HDD Utility disc image on SKS Apps' website and burned it over and over to CD-R with Alcohol..... I did it right too. I followed a guide here on Afterdawn but every time I try to boot the burned CD-R with Swap Magic CD 3.3 it gives me this error "not a valid PS2 disc".

Anybody who's got an official PS2 HDD could you please give me a copy of the drivers on it which should be in the __boot folder?

I'm desperate lol. This HDD Utility Disc (from what I hear) was supposed to come bundled with FFXI when FFXI came out... It didn't.
