Hi, i've just installed a XenoGC mod on my Gamecube, and recorded my first isos donwloaded from the internet on mini-DVD's Dotcom. My DVD recorder is a LG.
All the initial games that I recorded run, but at some point appears a message of error...
Searching in the web I was not able to find an answer to that problem neither an updated tutorial of how to burn GC games on mini-DVD's.
I read something about dumping the mini-DVD to fill its size to 1.5Gb, but no names or links to a program that actually does it.
Also that my LG recorder and Dotcom media were bad choices to sucessfully burn GC games.
Please someone help me, I'm going nuts!! hahaha

Yeah, chances are that it's the media.
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Check the media ID so that you can find out just what level of quality those discs have. Also, you could try getting a firmware update for your burner. Go to www.rcp1.org for the latest firmware.
Additionally, you may want to use Nero or ImgBurn to burn the image files to disc.

did you install the xeno? How was it? Pretty easy?
I've read that the gc is pretty picky about it media, or at least some of them are.
are you using -r's or +r's?

Joh's GC Tracker is the only worthwhile one. However, it requires that you become an active member, so depending on it's popularity you may have some trouble getting an account. It's been a while since I've used it though, so I have no idea what it's current state is.

Had a similar problem with Zelda TP and XenoGC, downloaded 3 rips and burned like 5-6 times and would always crash at the same place.
Then I decided to burn with Nero 6 instead of Nero 7 that I had just installed the previous week, well guess what! it worked!!!
I don't think Nero 7 is very good at burning images, burned 2 pc apps images, and both discs were completely unusable. I'm gonna switch back to Nero 6.

Actually, Nero 7 has mixed results with GC games.
For some it works great while for others it doesn't work at all. Back when it first came out there was a big argument about it. I've used it a several times without any problems (Xbox, GC, PS2, and DVD movie images)

OK, one more time:
-Open "Nero Burning Rom" and close the "new compilation" window.
-Click "Recorder"-> "Burn Image"
-Choose your image file, burn speed, and burn.
I use Ritek -R(full size) and burn at 4x.
And Nero 7 doesn't work for me so I use Nero 6...

It's almost amazing how many people gloss right over the whole, "Use Nero 6 because Nero 7 rarely works" step of burning GC backups, isn't it? :P

Could somebody link me to a thread/tell me how to make my gamecube play fullsize dvd-rs? I remember it had something to do with destroying the top cover, but it would be nice if I had a tutorial.
Thanks.

Easiest way I found was to buy a replacement top case for like 20$

You can just removed the top part of the case, as I understand. I you live in a dusty place, you might want to cover it when not in use if you do that.

I'll probably be doing this for a while until I order a replacement cover. I'm finally getting around to putting my XenoGC in.
