hey everyone! i juss bought a ps2 old model and im pumped.. however, i have some questions regarding burning ps2 games. please verify that i have all i need

- NEC SuperMulti 18x DVD±R Burner (AD-7170A)OEM

now for the question.. can any1 suggest a free dvd burning program? ive heard Nero was good, and was planning on getting that.. however, if ne1 thinks there is something better, then please tell me
Also, can someone explain the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? these come up a lot, and im not sure what the difference is; can both burn ps2 games?
please verify that all this stuff will work 2 burn games, christmas is coming up and i dont wanna spend money on stuff that cant do what i would like

In general it's usually better to use DVD-R's when burning PS2 games because they have better compatibility across all PS2 versions. HP media isn't the greatest but it should be adequate for now. The next chance you purchase DVD-R media look into getting Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media. With better media you'll put less strain on the laser and will have higher success rates when burning.
Also, when you get your DVD burner make sure your drives firmware is up-to-date. New versions add support for newer media and improve compatibility / burn quality with existing ones. Additionally, there's the new features and bug fixes you'd expect with any bit of software (which is basically what firmware is).
