I need help! I have the Nero and can burn 4X DVD-R, but the discs are either hard to find or they are more expensive then the 16X. Should I keep what I have or should I upgrade and get the Nero7? Will I be able to burn 16X with the Nero7? I don't know much about this stuff. I hear that the Nero is the best for burning this stuff so I need advice. Thanks!
I have Nero 7 and can burn at 16X with it...But more importantly, does your burner burn at 16X? If it's a few years old, it may not, and you won't be able to burn at 16X no matter what program you use...I'm still a newbie, but I think I'm on the right track here...I don't know if you can use a 16X disc in a 4X machine if you use a program that burns at 4X (does that make sense?)
Yes...I have an external drive that says 16X on it, but I don't know about my tower drives. I just see DVD/R, RW, and Disc on it. Do you like your Nero7? I downloaded the trial, but I couldn't get it to do anything. Not sure what was going on there.

I don't know about the trial not working...maybe goto the Nero forum under software and poke around; you may have to un-install your current Nero and then re-install the nero7 trial...do you have an older version of Nero that doesn't support 16X burning? I'm a little confused, but I'd get the 16X media if I had a 16X burner...as far as the ones in your tower, whatever program you use should default to the speed of you drives (if your drive is only 4x, then the program won't go to 8x or 16x)
Personally, I love Nero 7, but I haven't used any previous version of it so I don't know any differences. And I only got it when I got my dvd burner, so I've never used anything else for burning dvd's. I used to be a Roxio Easy CD user for burning cd's, but of course I'll just use nero7 now...
