hey,

i am looking for a stable modchip for my ps2 slim v15 (i have SCPH-7700x)

which of these modchips would work best on my ps2? i want something that is stable, runs smoothly and would not damage my lens

thanks

both are great chips it just depends on which one fits Your needs best. the DMS4 Pro SE can sport the Toxic OS and has better resources for game play from the harddrive, the CC has on the fly patching of DNAS IDs for online playing so you don't have to patch the ISO prior to burning the backup.

the only consoles that need laser fixes are the V9-V10 Fat (need a Romeo mod) and the V12 slim.

the crystal pro v2 seems better as i will be using online gaming. the dms4 pro se has "auto turn off feature" if it gets too warm. is that really necessary? does the crystal pro v2 have that future?

With the CC2.0 you can install the most recent patched version of HDL which has just as much support for playing back-ups from HDD as Toxic OS. I dont know about the disabling when it gets to hot thing, but all of the top 3 chips go into a type of hibernate.

From what I know the DMS4 is a great chip. The only problem with it is there is no "official" wiring diagram for v15. KC has a diagram for version 15b (mobo # GH-051-51) and I have a diagram for v15a (mobo # GH-051-02)but neither is from the manufacturer (although I'm sure both are VERY reliable, especially the one from KC). The problem with that is that some installers won't install your chip without an official diagram from the manufacturer. If you're going to install your own, no problem though. I'm not sure if the other chip has an official wiring diagram or not.

most of us modders always make our own diagrams when new consoles come out because they show up for us to mod long before the MFGs of the chips put out their own. any modder who has a working knowledge of the installation points can easily figure out the board revisions in most cases.

BTW all Actel based chips have some thermal protection built into the chips.

Unfortunately the DMS4 has more issues other then not having a simple diagram from DMS. KC's diagram appears correct, not like it would be hard to track these points down your self. If a pro is not confident enough to do a install without an official diagram I would be leery of sending it to them in the first place. Unless the chip was not confirmed to be working with that version which isn't the case here as the DMS4 has been documented to work in the V15. However the hardware issues with the DMS4's have left many installers bitter and many wont look back and have moved onto more advanced and reliable chips like the CC2.0 and MI's.

Good luck with whatever you chose to go with and as always ..... HAVE FUN!

If you know somebody locally that installs chips and you have an accurate diagram, there's no reason why they shouldn't.

Most likely they will already have the diagram themselves.

Have fun!
