After playing around for what seems like forever with programs like dvdfabdecrypter, Shrink, Recode and all the others I finally found
Shrinkto5..
The new version 2.0.4 along with the add-on machinist2 (removes protection) lets me put a commercial dual layer dvd in my dvd r/w, pick a target folder and click on start. In about an hour I have a perfect copy of the whole DVD9 disk ready to burn on a DVD5 disk.. I've converted about 20 movies this week (Including new Disney flicks) without one single problem or glitch whatsoever...They come out perfect and play on my home player just like the original..
Just thought I'd post the heads up on this! It's all freeware and worth a try.. BTW Adware is removed from the new version!
Yeah, Shrinkto5 seems like a pretty promising program. The quality from my own personal testing was pretty decent, though I would still have to give the edge to both DVD Shrink and Recode 2 in the quality department. If I remember correctly though, it did process pretty fast. I have a link in my sig that compares some transcoders (as well as some encoders) and I believe Shrinkto5 is in the mix. Anyways, thanks for the heads up, hope the program works out well for you in the future. :)
As far as quality I can't tell the difference from the original..I just set it to the highest quality (takes longer) setting. I think it adds about 5 min to the conversion..
My Son just installed it and he emailed me that his copies are better than the original..
"So easy even a caveman can do it" LOL

just to let you know that even if there is no compression of the dvd it cant be better than the original, its the same and if there is compression then it wont be better than the original.
Plus with a very heavy compression rate u can see a difference on a big screen TV.
