Ok I just bought my new 60" Sony SXRD A2000 TV but can't get it to display 1080p through the component cables.Does anyone know how to get 1080p for the 360? Do I need different cables such as VG cables?

Thanks in advance.

I have the latest version of the update from Xbox 360.You know the summer update that adds the feature of 1080p.Everytime I click on the 1080p on the menu of the 360 it comes up with a distorted picture which tells me that the component cables are incapable of handling such a signal.

poolpro, the only way you can get 1080p from the Xbox 360 currently is by using the VGA cable. Microsoft never planned on 1080p compatibility from the beginning, but to try to compete with the PS3 they added it in an update. Of course they never explained that the only way to get the 1080p resolution is with the VGA cables which are like 40 bucks extra. That is why your video is distored when you select that option. The best you can get with the component cables is 1080i. Hope that helps.

Weird. I get 1080p on mine but that's because I plug the component cables into my reciever that outputs in HDMI.

Thanks stevetex that's what I thought because I think I saw something that mentioned VGA cables but was not sure what they were talking about. Well my new TV has a connection for VGA so hopefully I can get the cables and hook it up.I don't know if the Tv can do it though because I read that it can only do 1080p via HDMI.

I have mine connected to my tv at 1080p through the component cables. Well thats what it tells me on the dash board anyway, does this mean its not really running at 1080p?

If you're getting 1080p at the system blade, then you ARE running at 1080p. It has nothing to do with the component cables, it has to do with whether or not your TV's component inputs can accept a 1080p signal.

alot of sonys don't support 1080p through vga.it has something to do with the 360 and sony being incompatiable.go to the official xbox site and check out there audio/video forum.there was alot of threads about this.might save you $40.
