I downloaded three sets of .bin and .cue files. I have tried burning but when I try and install I get a "Cyclic Redundancy Error" when it's trying to install the file 2_1_1.LSO
It always happens at this same spot. When I use CDmage to try and repair it, I get a little farther, instead of just giving me the error, it allows me to "Ignore" "Retry" or "abort". I click ignore and it gets a little farther and then it tells me "Catastrophic Failure" .
What am I doing wrong? I have tried using many different setting and have wasted many discs. I have stopped using discs until I get it working from my HD.
I have Alcohol 120%, DAEMON Tools, Blind Write, CDmage. My CD burner is a LITE-ON LTR-48126S

ya i suggest you should. here is the name of the files i got from kazaa. make sure u get these exact ones. i kno its a pain in the ass to get these 700mb files AGAIN. but if u wanna play one of the best games ever, i suggest doing so. it is so worth d/ling this game. i loved it.
in kazaa search for all: "splinter cell bin"
FLT-SC1.bin
FLT-SC2.BIN
FLT-SC3.BIN

Burn at 8x m8. Your Litey can easily defeat Safedisc 2.x. Be sure your using the Safedisc 2 datatype profile (Alcohol 120%) and burn RAW DAO.

I think I may have changed the setting for Safedisc 2, just to be safe what should the settings be in Alcohol120%
I redownloaded disc one. I get a little farther, It gets to one of the map files, but then I get a Catastrophic Error message.
I'm running it from the HD, if I burn it to a cd, will it change something? I tried mounting it with DAEMON tools and Alcohol120% but both gave me the error messages.
Is there anything else I can do?

Try burning to a cd-rw and play the backup in your dvd-cd-rom. if you don't have any cd-rw's then burn to a cd-r using Alcohol 120% with Safedisc 2 datatype profile (RAW DAO) at 8x. If the backup fails to install\play then enable all emulation and try again.

Same thing happening to me.
I have written the CD's with Nero, no problem, but I get a Catastrophic Failure just as the game starts to install, refers to game files.
I tried a game crack, it ranbut nothing happened, I tried to install after, but same problem.
Any Clues??

You don't use Nero to backup Safedisc 2.x cd protection m8. Use programs like Alcohol 120%, Blindwrite Suite or CloneCD. What is the brand name and model# of your burner as you "may" need emulation to play your backups.

I must be really lucky, I have downloaded lots of games and successfully burned them all with Alcohol 120% set to 'custom' and RAW-DAO. That's all I do everytime.
Although, I don't use Kazaa so that could be a factor, bad files or corrupt downloads are the common problem.

Open Alcohol 120%>option>shell extension>enable cue file format. Open image burning wizard and choose the Safedisc 2 datatype profile& load the "cue"& burn (RAW DAO) at 8x. Play the backup in your dvd\cd-rom. if it won't spin up then play in your cd burner and enable "ignore media type" found in emulation options. Alcohol 120% must be running in system tray if using emulation (ignore media type).

Wait until you have to backup SecuROM 4.8.3^up and you'll have serious problems using "custom" to backup.

Yeah, can't wait for that day. for the time being I'm just happy plodding along, being lucky. :)
But I think we are talking two different issues here, copying original discs and burning downloaded images.
Copying a disc is far harder, I agree.

Look for Unreal Tournament 2003 or Grand Theft Auto Vice City via p2p file sharing client and download m8 (not bin& cue file format). Nobody is debating the issue on this thread a differance beteen downloading pc protected game titles and making backups of the "original".

Get your feet "wet" and backup SecuROM 4.8.x cd protection m8. I assure you you can't backup these 2 pc game titles using Alcohol 120% custom datatype profile setting.

So it has to be from a P2P client and no bin or cue files?
Not from anywhere else?

A) No& No.
Problem here is I respond to soo many posts to those who download bin& cue format and they either have no "cue" file or they claim the bin& cue file is corrupt.

So, has the burning it at 8x fixed the problem for anyone? my discs were screwed up... in fact alcohol wouldnt make image files from them after I burned them from cue/bin files at full speed.
I have a 48x VeloCD by TDK
I just tried Burning it at 8x, and no luck, my first CD is fine.... but CD2 and CD3 are screwed up, and I get read errors when trying to make an image from them, and my problem starts when it tries to copy over Map.SM0
*frustrated*

You don't make image files m8, you burn the bin& cue file(s) you downloaded(8x). After you've burned all the images of the game, insert the "play" disc in your dvd\cd-rom with all emulation enabled running Alcohol 120% (red icon) in system tray\startup. If the backup fails to play then try your cd burner with emulation enabled.

I realize that, however, what I am saying, is I burned the bin/cue files as per usual, done this with plenty of other games, and the discs are screwed up, and after checking again, found that the images were screwed... I used CDMage and it fixed them, I get a CRC error on a couple files, but I can ignore and it will finish installing....
