I just bought a RAZR V3t and have been trying to make some custom ringtones. I read the "making MP3 Ringtones" tutorial but and having a few problems. How do I load them onto my phone and get it to actually recognize them as ringtones? When I tried it, it only recognizes them as MP3 files in the digital media player. It won't recognize them as ringtones. I read somewhere that I need to use Motorola Phone tools, which brings me to my second problem:

I cant get motorola phone tools to recognize my phone. I tried to update to phone list, but it said it was already up to date. When it asked me to manually set up my phone after the second try, the V3t wasn't on the list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting kind of frustrated here. Thanks guys.

Haha, yeah, I'm retarded. Just figured it out. Wasn't saving it to the phone and was saving it to the sd card.

ok for all you guys out there i finally figured it out. You must use moto phone tools it WILL recognize your phone if you run live update and let it update to version 4.21. them use multimedia studio and put them on the PHONE MEM not the sd flash card. Or you can try P2K commander and the tools that go with it. But no draggin and dropping wont make ringtones just mp3s that play in the player.

Ok... first, im a noob here but not to forums, ive read alot of the the other threads even the closed ones FIRST, i know ppl only come when they have problems and rarely comeback to post the fixes... So...

v3t, mpt v.4 (it updated but i dont know what the version is cuz i cant get past the 'manually choose your fone', v3t is not listed), yes i know you can sometimes trick the drivers to load by saying you have a different mdl BUT v3t is a music player the other v3xxx are video mp4 types so i wont take a chance...

I cant get past the install wiz because of this, is there a v3t.inf out there? Ive done the update prog/mpt install/uninstall even looked in the device manager for the modem driver which isnt there cuz it wont load...

one thing thou... when i install mpt the update thing runs during the create a profile popup, this causes no end of headache, crappy coding... one of the most popular/product placement fones in america and crappy software support... ALL I WANT TO DO IS DL THE CTU (24) RINGTONE!!!

mostly a rant, i would blame Bush like the rest of the nerds but i really dont think that Gore woulda done a better job....

Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the presence of fear with the will to go on.

I have yet to do this but I have great interest. Sorry if it seems like I don't follow instructions, but, must I connect the phone to the PC via usb or can I save tunes to the SD card and then transfer from SD to the phone memory?

TIA

I can help all of you guys in one shot... 1st off you CANNOT transfer anything from memcard to phone DIRECTLY...You will need the right tools...For those of us with the V3t it must all be done with either Moto MPT 4.21 or P2K Commander 4.9.2 and all the p2k plugins...With the 1st bein for you noobs who only wanna give yourself a few ringtones and some pix or whatever... The 2nd however is a crazy and complex set of tools for us true modders who want there phone no longer recognizable to the rest of the world...(startup shutdown funlights games Apps Skins)etc... There are other tools to check out as well like motokit 1.06 or Leader GL Flex editor but again not for noobs... So enjoy your modding and if you brick your phone out dont worry there is a clean v3t flex to save you ass on the motoX forums so go crazy and mod till you drop!!!

ok now that ive helped a few ppl in thier beginners quest to mod...I the supposed expert need a few fresh minds to bend around funlights in the v3t!!! Has anyone edited a funlight.pat just for the v3t??? I have one for a v3 or v3i but they couldve miss labeled it... See when i get a call my phone resets And i don't even have the option for Event lights...I have followed several guides to the letter so all my seem edits should be perfect!!! Could it not be my .pat file? Could it be where i put the .pat??? Some guides say put it in a/mobile/audio some say in the v3i/t it goes in b/ or c/ Any thoughts or experiments gone awry???
