Hey fellas.

Very new to this 'scene', but you guys have always managed to help me out on numerous occasions.

First things first, at the moment I can load up LaunchELF V3.41 by using the memory card exploit (I think it's called?) From there I can load .elf files such as Pgen etc. You must be pretty familiar with what I'm on about now.

I have no PS2 hard drive. I was just wondering if there was a way I could load ISOs using instead a USB Hard drive, such as an iPod. If so, I heard there may be restrictions in that it needs to be a minimum of 40 / 30GB

Any help would be well appreciated.

Thanks alot guys!

LOL!?!?

I dont know if you can use an ipod.
But the software you are looking for is usbadvance. Try and find the elf file off the net (sksapps.com) and chuck it onto your mem card or how ever. U can try a ipod but if it dont go use a usb hdd.

Look up on tutorials on that site as well how to use it and install games onto the hdd.
There is only like 10% of games that are compatible with this, but its the only way to go if u want to play games through the usb port.

(To me its not even worth it)
Internal HDD and hdloader is like a 100x better

Hmm, okay thanks alot.

What kinda price are we talking about for an internal HDD? (I assume it means Hard Drive Disk)

My mate has an internal harddrive, so I can find out stuff regarding that from him, but cheers for that link Xplaya, there's some good stuff here.

A normal IDE (Not sata) computer hardrive will work. But not all models work, you need to check this list for compatible models.
http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/?p=list

Also you need a network adaptor to plug at the back of the ps2. That is needed to plug the HDD in.

But since you already can put files onto your mem card, there is no harm in testing usbadvance.

Okay thanks alot. I'm gonna give this USBAdvance a whirl, see if it can recognise the iPod.

EDIT:
Weeeell, turns out it probably doesn't work. If I click on either Start or Format (the only options available) it displays a message that "A USB DEVICE IS REQUIRED."

Darn. Well thanks for the help.

SECOND EDIT:
HAHA! Well, I left the PS2 to come post back here . Just went to see it and it declares instead that I have no backed up games. It can detect my newer iPod I put into Disk mode, thus acting like an external hard drive. (I guess this means older iPods won't work, unless there is a way to put them into disk mode.

It does take a while to recognise/load the USB device though. And like you said, only a few games work. Oh well. Thanks a lot Xplaya for your help.
