ive got a Western Digital External hard drive (WD1200B015) and a Ps2 (SCPH-30001). Do i need usb extreme or Hd Advance to get my ps2 to pick up the har drive. ive already got games copied to my hard drive i just need to get my ps2 to reconize the hard drive to play the games. So what doo i need. Just wondering before i bought something. thanks guys yall are awesome!

If your looking for a "no modchip" solution then HDA is your best bet. You might wont to make sure that WD HDD will be ok as the WD HDD's are known to have fit up issues with the Sony Network adapter. Have a look at this link for a list of compatible IDE HDD's for the PS2.

Your best option however would be to save that money your were going to spend on HDA and invest it in a modchip like the CC2.0 which will allow you to boot the patched HDL which is free and what HDA originated from. Booting HDL from a chip like the CC2.0 will allow you to do it with out any disc in your PS2 at all. The combination of a modchip and HDL is a way more dynamic solution then HDA alone any day.

correct me if I'm wrong but the WD1200B015 is a USB drive and the game play off a USB drive is pretty pathetic, in the neighborhood of 5% or so making it a waste of effort for the most part.

Eeeewwww yeah you are right KC. It is a USB HDD. I didnt even bother to look that up. USBAdvance/Extreme sucks!
