DVI to HDMI help please!

Ok my Sony KP-51WS500 TV uses a DVI port with HDCP(which is needed for the PS3 to be compatible) I bought a $10 HD-24N-06(model) DVI-HDMI Cable. And everytime I try to change the display settings from my video 2 wires(the red, white, yellow) to HDMI, I cant seem to get a signal. All I get is that 30 second black screen which takes me back to my display setting options. I saw someone say they had the same problem but then bought a Belkin DVI-HDMI cable and the problem was fixed. Does a certain DVI-HDMI cable really matter, b/c the Belkin is alot mor money?? Please anyone help I really want the HD to work for my games and Movies

I bought a male to male HDMI to DVI cable from monoproce.com and didn't seem to have any issues. My TV also has DVI w/HDCP.
