so im thinking of doing the firmware flash to play backups on the 360. Im not sure about going on xbox live with the backups cause of possibly getting banned. But if i go on live with my original games will i get banned even if i have the firmware mod?

You can still play on live with use of the firmware mod, you have the risk of getting banned as soon as microsoft has some sort of patch for it. But till now they don't so you can play on live (also the original xbox games)

kk cool, so when ms does come out with this fix, is there any way to make my xbox as though it was never firmware modded?

yes just if you soft mod your xbox 360 first make a backup of the original firmware.
to change everything back to normal after you've modded the xbox 360 just put your backup back on instead of the modded firmware.
Then everything is like normal again.

just remind that if MS gets you while you have it modded and the ban you. you'll possibly be banned by ip or mac address or something, so if you get banned from live because you have a modded xbox then changing it back to normal won't get you unbanned.

although, if you have it modded and you know MS has a patch for it but they didn't ban you yet. then just use the backup i tiold you about and maybe MS won't get to know a thing about the fact you had a modded xbox 360 :)
