this is my problem,
Iv got a Pipex Homecall 2.2mbps ADSL Connection
It was working fine last tiem i connected to the internet
no when i connect tot he itnernet it still conencts
but lets say it ype "www.google.com"
at the bottom left itll say finding google.com
then change www.www.google.com.com, www.www.google.com.net etc etc
then after its done that with all the differents types .x u can get
my internet tries to loads up the msn search engine thingy you get when you type in a address wrong
and i get the error messgae saying "Internet Explorer Could Not Open The Search Page"
I dont know if this will help but at my school if ever you get blocked from using the internet by admin the same thing happens but you dont get the error messgae it just keeps on trying to load the page. Could my internet connection have been blocked? By my provider?
well if u havent been breaking any rules by your provider and the internet should be connecting then no. ur browser is being hijacked. notice the extra www. and stuff? yeah thats a browser hijacker. anywho, this can be easily fixed. download a program called XoftSpySE
this won't delete the files unless you register, but it does tell you the location of the infections so you can manualy delete them. Also, when you have finnished that. do you have HijackThis? because if you do put a log in here and i will look at it :)
Malware could definitely be an issue, especially since you are using Internet Explorer rather than Opera or Firefox. Most likely your DNS servers are down, blocked, or your own DNS settings are screwed up.
Go to Start->Run and type in
IPCONFIG /ALL
If your IP address is 169.254.x.x then there is probably a problem even getting an IP. If it looks normal (e.g. 192.168.x.x. if you have a router) then look at the DNS addresses.
First try disabling your firewall and, if you are not behind a router, try using the Windows firewall just for the moment. If the firewall is the problem, try uninstalling it and then installing something else.
If that doesn't work, you will have to obtain DNS server IP addresses from your ISP. Go into Network Connections->Local Area Connection->click TCP/IP and then click Properties and then Use the Following DNS server addresses. I show Pipex as using 195.224.255.2, 195.224.255.6, 62.44.64.110 and 158.43.129.80, but you only need two. Click on Advanced and under the DNS tab make sure Append these DNS suffixes is blank. If not, you probably have malware.
You may also want to check your HOSTS file in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. If there's a line referring to www.google.com, then there is definitely malware present. Note that some legitimate ad-blockers block malicious sites owned by Google with Google in their names, mainly Googleanalytics, Googlesyndication.com, etc. so just because there is a reference to Google doesn't mean it's a bad thing; it's only if somethings actually blocking the main Google homepage at www.google.com.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
