FTP Without LAN?

IS the any way to FTP files and folders to a PS2 HDD? I can use the network thing and use the ethernet cable but I am transfering big files and it's taking just entirely too long and somemtimes freezes. I can hook my HDD to my laptop so I was wondering if I could use an FTP program to transfer the files without being LAN. Is there any program out there that does such a thing? I usually use FlashFXP but it doesn't reconize a local PS2 HDD. Any help would be very thankful.

I'm sure you can, but I haven't needed to do it, so I haven't figured it out.

What you mean by FTP'ing without LAN? You mean Any other way without using the ethernet port or something. Like usb port?

There are other ways to put files onto your hdd without ftp'ing. Like copying froma cd or usb stick? Ulaunch elf does it.

I was taking his "ftp without a lan" to mean using a crossover cable based on some other things in his post.

Of course, he not have meant crossover cable (probably doesn't know what one is) when he said it, but I think when he said lan, he meant like home network, plugging into a router.
