I've used DVD Decrypter to rip the movie files successfully many times and burned them. But one of the movie just refused to be ripped. It always stops at the same place and same file .VOB What else can I do if I can't rip the movie ? I had tried a couple of other softwares as well like DXC, etc. I get an error, too. The movie plays fine in a set-top DVD player.

Some windex ? Ok, this is new to me. Are you suggesting that it's the physical disc itself that is causing the problem ? How come it's playing fine ? I was thinking more like some encrypting issue. I guess I need a walkthrough of how to windex my movie disc. And is it ok to use DVD Decrypting software to rip it.
Thanks

Trust me, if DVD Decrypter cant rip it then the chances that something else will is very slim. Check the disc for major scratches

Actually, there WERE some dvds that I wasn't able to rip with Decrypter - well, like with duarte up above, it was only with one specific VOB.
After wiping it up and cleaning the fingerprints thoroughly with Windex and doing a slower rip using SmartRipper, I was able to rip that specific VOB that Decrypter wasn't able to do.
I still use Decrypter with every ripping need I have. But sometimes, in cases like the one I mentioned above, I keep SmartRipper handy as well (with some Windex too!) :P

An6eLo,
Thanks for the suggestion. Funnily, I tried the windex thing, and it actually worked LOL. This is really weird. So, basically I think the disc needed to be cleaned although there were many fine scratches and prints. Everything was ripped afterward. But then when I started burning, I had some errors. But I burned it anyway. I tested the movie. It played fine. In conclusion, I think it was the combination of something corrupted in that specific .VOB file and dirty/scratchy disc.

Kewl tip.
Howsomever would any glass cleaner work or would it have to be windex.
How about liquid detergent for dishes?

Duarte -
I'm glad you were able to rip fine. This might work for some.. it might not. But it's a good way to see if the disk is just dirty or whatnot. So keep on tryin!
Tosca -
I just figured everybody would have Windex since it's like the most popular brand or something. But I guess any window cleaner would work. I just actually saw this in one of the other threads and tried it myself and was pleased with the result. As far as liquid detergent though... i dunno about that. Haven't had to try and go that route yet. LOL
