i was wondering if you could remove a ps2 laser and hardware and replace it with a dvd burner and put the wires in place if it would work?

I've never tried this, but I don's see a reason why not. As long as the connections were replaced into correct spots and the new equipment was capable...I'd say disassemble your ps2 and look to see if the connections might be compatible. If not, you will have to modify the new drive...

OK hippies, here's some joints, and a guitar.
The number 23 is everywhere.
I am a firm believer in the theory of The Matrix.

There are many reasons "why not". Number one being the Sony driver is not compatable with any PC type laser. Number two being the sony laser has no other laser even remotely like it on the market. Three I highly doubt sony built any type of laser burner code into the PS2 driver ... this topic is kinda silly.
