i use an IDE to USB connector to connect my DVD writer and my hard drive. i only plug it in when i need to use it, but the problem is that some times the device is not detected when i plug it in. I then have to restart my computer, then everything is fine. Other times I just plug in the USB and it detects the drive right away.

Does anybody know why this is? and how i can get it to detect the device all the time?

If you go into device manager does it come up with any icons with a yellow exclamation mark on them??
