Use the Windows Media Connect software, if you're running XP.

I use TwonkyMedia and it works great. For some reason I could never get windows media connect or wmp11 to work.

BlkMagic1 is there an option to share your entire music libriary that you may not have checked?

no you just need ethernet cord. plug one end into your 360 and the other into one of the ports on your router. goto windows media player then click on tools at the top>options>library tab>configure sharing then allow the xbox 360

I advise you completely shutdown your firewall and anything else that would restrain your connection. In my experience that has been the most common problem I've had.

Only some of the songs are working with mine. The ones I ripped of the cd. The ones I downloaded because I didn't feel like ripping from my cd don't work.

You have to make sure all .mp3 files are in the default My Documents/My Music folder. If you have several accounts on XP, then it needs to be in the Administrator accounts My Music folder. Same for videos, except they go in My Videos and must be .wmv

Oh yeah, you can but just having it in the My Music folder will eliminate 90% of these questions. You can have it in any folder as long as that particular folder is shared with the 360.

any other way to make sure the folder is shared with the 360? Don't really want to move all my music.
