I have read almost all the forums on aferdawn. I know you need a computer, xbox 360, sata card, sata cable, blank media DL, and the tools to take the 360 apart. My question is what sata card do I need for a Hitachi Drive?

It depends if you get a 0078fk or not. A VIA VT6421L chipset card works with every drive and is only $15 online.

This does not have a way to connect the SATA cable in the back though, does it?

you connect it in the inside of your computer case, you arent supposed to run external sata drives, the only external drives are either usb or firewire

If I understand correctly--the card goes in the PCI slot, then the 360 is connected via SATA cable to the card, right? No SATA cables from the card to the PC, right?

If my assumptions are correct, then does it matter which opening you put the cable in from the 360 to the card? There is one opening closer to the back of the computer on the card and one closer to the inside of the computer on the card. And I guess you just flash your 360 with the PC open then, running the SATA cable from the 360 to the card?

ummm try them both whatever works, i think read somewhere that if you put it in the one closest to the back of the computer then it works but im not sure, just try them out and see...

Thanks for the replies,
My last question has to do with the driver for that card. I let the "found new hardware" wizard install it automatically, I think. I haven't used the card yet, but do you think that's the way to install the driver? Or do you do it manually? If manually, which folder did you go into to find the right setup.exe file?

Do I have to manually go to the VT6421 folder to get it right? Then do I got to the "driver disk" folder or how do I get the right driver?
