Hi guys,

Im new at backing up ps2 games and I am having a problem burning the data to a disc. I am using a Sony DVD RW DRU-830A USB burner and when I go into DVD Decrypter and press to burn to disc it gives me a strange error message that reads:

"DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME)Failed!

Device: [0:0:0]Sony DVD RW DRU-830A SS20 (F:) (USB)

Unable to lock volume for exclusive access

Reason: Access is denied"

I have never had a problem backing up DVD movies before and I am scared I may not be able to back up ps2 games. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advanced.

DVD Decrypter is trying to lock the volume, and your drive dosen't want to. You can stop it from doing this.

Go to tools>Settings, and look under the "ISO Write" tab.

Uncheck the box that says "Lock Volume Exclusive Access"

Try burning again.

i use DVD Decrypter to burn games on disk when i download games that have MDS and MDF files, anyway dont use DVD decrytper i mean just use Nero SMART or Nero 6, and if the game has a blue base on the disc you cant burn it, i dont know why but those games dont burn for me if the have a blue base colour, and also is the game more than your DVD can handle , i mean is the game 7GB and the Disk only 4.7GB taht could be a problem, but yeh Nero is the way to go in buring games. ACTAULLY I THINK MAYBE YOUR TRYING TO BURN AN ISO TO DISK, becuase i just rembered taht DVD Decrypter only burns things from the hard drive to the disk like an ISO, but anyway use Nero its still better i think. BURN IMAGE TO DISK ON Nero YOUD GET A BETTER RESULT MOST OF MY GAMES THAT I PUT ON DISK USING DVD Decrypter, studd up halfway but using Nero IT DOSENT.
maybe DVD secrypter still has bugs dunno, i hope this help!!!!*(IF THE ISO IS BIGGER THAN THE DISK YOUR BURNING ON TO DVD DISK TAHT MIGHT BE A PROBLEMASWELL)

I have no idea what mega123 just said, but CiDaemon summed it up:
Uncheck the box that says "Lock Volume Exclusive Access" It's almost identical to the error message you recieve...

@mega123

DVD Decrypter Will burn a CD based game (blue bottom) it just will not read/decrypt one. that would be under:

Tools > Settings > ISO Write Mode (tab) and then select Auto or CD from the Write Mode drop down menu. but nobody should be burning with DVD Decrypter, it's horribly outdated and you should be using ImgBurn for the burning and Decrypter only for ripping.

ImgBurn would try to lock the volume access as well, I know this is a default option in both softwares. But yeah, all you have to do is uncheck it.

P.S. He's right, ImgBurn is a superior burning software to DVD Decrypter, because it's still active and supports more features/options/etc. DVD Decrypter is no longer active because of the lame DRM laws that killed it, but it's still a good ripping app. Since ImgBurn can only burn (duh), Decrypter is still good for ripping.
