I am 90% sure the problem is the DVD-R's you're using. I had an experience like you when i first started burning PS2 games (which was recently.) I got cheap DVD-R's from microcenter and they were crap! I got long loading times, game freezing, sound and video skipping, etc.

After i switched to Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's, All my burned games have played Perfectly well.

Check some of the stickys on this forum, they will tell u about the types of media that are good and bad. but in a nutshell, use only Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim.

well am using the same DVD-R on my xbox as well to play backup it plays flawless on my xbox, without any problem but on my ps2 it never skips or stuters it loads nicely but it jst gives blank screen when it loads these 2 games,

i have another game that i downloaded of the net and burned it to same brand DVD-R and that game works perfecrtly out any problems.

and also Why are my other backup games i made using dvd dycypter not working, after the slide card trick all i get is a blank screen, i wil try different brand media but i doubt its the DVD-R am using as some game dont freeze only gives blank screen
